Building Nomenclature

The basic parameters that define Pre Engineered Buildings are:



Building Width

Building Width( outer to outer) is the distance between the outside line of one side Gable End Column (End Wall Column) + Steel line to the outside line of Gable End Column (End Wall Column) of the opposite side+ steel Line. Any width is possible.

The building width (center to center) is defined as distance from the Center of main Framed Column of one side wall to the Center of main column of the opposite side wall.

Building Length

Building Length ( outer to outer) is the distance between the Outside Line of one side Gable End Column (End Wall Column) + Steel line to the outside Line of other Gable End Column (End Wall Column) of the same side+ steel Line. Any Length is possible.

The building Length (center to center) is defined as distance from the Center of gable Framed Column of first grid wall to the Center of gable column of the last grid.

Building Height

Building eave height is the distance from the bottom of the main framed column base plate to the top of the Eave Strut. When the columns are elevated from finished floor level the building height is the distance from finished floor level to the top of eave strut of the main framed column. The building clear height is the distance from finished floor level (FFL) to the bottom of the end plate of the rafter at the Knee joint.
